The work
What you'll do
- Review merchant applications and supporting documents such as processing statements, bank statements, and business financials
- Verify business ownership and identity, and check for red flags
- Assess risk from industry, business model, chargeback history, and volume
- Match each merchant with a compatible processing setup and acquiring bank
- Prepare complete underwriting files and work with bank partners through approval
- Request missing information from merchants and sales in a clear, timely way
- Document decisions and conditions such as reserves or processing limits
- Support periodic reviews of existing merchant accounts

What you'll bring
Required
- Experience in merchant underwriting, credit analysis, risk, or a related financial review role
- Comfort reading financial statements and processing statements
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment
- Clear written communication for documenting decisions
- Ability to manage many files at once against deadlines
Nice to have
- High-risk merchant account underwriting experience
- Familiarity with card brand rules, chargeback thresholds, and reserve structures
- Experience working directly with acquiring banks
